Short answer: the practical differences come down to length and measurability. Shrooms are shorter and can at least be weighed; acid is far longer and cannot be measured outside a lab.

Time commitment
A mushroom experience generally occupies an afternoon; an LSD experience generally occupies a full day plus a difficult evening of residual stimulation. Sleep disruption is a much more common complaint with lysergamides.
Measurability
Dried mushrooms can be weighed on a scale, and a labelled product can state grams per package. Blotter cannot be assessed at home at all. That asymmetry is the single most useful distinction for anyone weighing risk.
Consistency between batches
Mushroom alkaloid content varies between species and even between fruits in the same flush. Blotter varies between sheets and between squares. Neither is uniform; mushrooms are at least visible and weighable.
Adulteration risk
Mushrooms are difficult to fake convincingly in whole dried form. Blotter is trivially easy to substitute with a different, more dangerous compound, which is the reason drug-checking services focus so heavily on it.
